Singapore Innovation League

Singapore Innovation League (SIL), founded by tech billionaire Niraj Goel, has funded its eighth project for development of new operating system, YOO, for smart wearable devices. A smart device is generally connected to different protocols such as Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi, 3G, among others but operate to some extent interactively and autonomously. Based on artificial intelligence through algorithms, the devices can be designed to support a variety of form factors, a range of properties pertaining to ubiquitous computing and to be used in three main system environments: physical world, human-centred environments and distributed computing environments. The devices are likely to make mobile phones redundant in the near future. It is a technology break through, creating a second generation system. The wearable technology will change the market by replacing all hand-held devices including I-Pads and mobile phones. It will come in many shapes and forms and give a new meaning to human-machine interaction. The wearable devices, streamlined to fit the human body and to be worn as part of clothing, will be making a fashion statement. The SIL plans to place USD100 million out of this SGD1.5 billion ear marked for technology start-ups in the coming years.
